MCV4U – February 17, 2016

PLEASE NOTE:  THE STUDENTS WILL BE HAVING A UNIT TEST ON MONDAY FEBRUARY 22 ON ALL OF THE CONTENT FROM FEBRURARY 4 TO FEBRUARY 17.

I began the class today by telling the students that I would be continuing from yesterday’s lesson on finding the slope of the tangent using first principles.  I then gave the students a handout titled “MCV4U – Derivatives from First Principles (continued)”.  I told the students that there were some things from the handout I would just be going over and the rest of the examples we would be doing in class together today as a group activity.   Once we finished the lesson, I then told the students to work on the homework I assigned for today (Read Pages 49 to 54 and then do #5, 9, 11 & 12).  Students are encouraged to email me if they have any questions from the homework ahead of time (abawa@office.ldcsb.on.ca).

Below you will find a copies of the handouts/worksheets that were distributed/assigned in today’s class.

MCV4U – Derivatives from First Principles continued (filled-in) (I added the answers for the “Now you try” and “Group Work” sections.  I told the students to do the “Group Work” chart for homework so they get extra practice.)

Now you try (take-up) (There are some student exemplars for the “Now you try” questions from today’s lesson.)

MCV4U – Examining Fibonacci Sequence Right End Behaviour (I posted this originally on Feb 12 but did not have a chance to go over it in class.  This note is proof is related to the lesson from Feb 12 titled “MCV4U – Limits, Sequences & End Behaviour”)
