IMPORTANT: THOSE OF YOU THAT GOT YOUR UNIT 1 TEST BACK TODAY PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE IT SIGNED BY YOUR PARENTS, IF YOU HAVE LESS THAN 18, FOR MON MAR 7.
PLEASE NOTE: THERE IS A REVISED SCHOOL DAY SCHEDULE TODAY MARCH 3 FOR THE SPECIAL OLYMPIC BASKETBALL GAME. I HAVE POSTED A COPY OF THE SCHEDULE BELOW.
ALSO NOTE: THE STUDENTS WILL BE HAVING A UNIT TEST ON WEDNESDAY MARCH 9 ON ALL OF THE CONTENT FROM FEBRUARY 18 TO MARCH 7.
I began the class by mentioning to the students that I would not be here tomorrow. I told them that I would return on Mon Mar 7 to continue the lesson that I started today because class was cut short due to the basketball game. I then told the students that we would be doing a new lesson today on higher order derivatives. I gave the students a handout titled “MCV4U – Higher Order Derviatives”. We were able to do example 1 & 2 today but were unable to complete example 3 because of the shortened period. I will continue with example 3 on Mon Mar 7 when I return. The students are still responsible for completing the homework I assigned for today (Do pg 124 #4,5(a,c), 6(a,c), 7 to 9 and pg 95 #13, 15 and pg 106 #1,2(a,b)). Students are encouraged to email me if they have any questions from the homework ahead of time (abawa@).
Below you will find a copies of the handouts/worksheets that were distributed/assigned in today’s class.
MCV4U – Higher Order Derivatives (blank) (Handout)
MCV4U – Higher Order Derivatives (filled-in) (I was able to do example 1 & 2 from today’s lesson but did not finish example 3. We will finish example 3 on Mon Mar 7 when I return back to school.)
Example 3 from Today’s lesson (TIPS Inquiry Investigation) – Partially filled in (I was only able to do part of this investigation example with the students in class today because we ran out of time and there were a number of students participating in the basketball game today. I will redo this example on Mon Mar 7 when I return back to school. Students are welcome to try to complete the rest of the investigation on their own before Monday’s class.)
Unit 1 Test Solutions (I handed the unit 1 tests back to the students that they wrote on February 22, 2016. The students can check their tests with these solutions and come see me if they have any questions.)
