TEJ3M/TEJ4M – March 21, 2016

REMINDER:  PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS ARE WEDNESDAY MARCH 23 FROM 4 PM TO 7 PM.  STUDENTS ARE REMINDED TO GET AN INTERVIEW TIME BEFORE THIS DATE.  ALSO, STUDENTS ARE TO RETURN THEIR PROGRESS REPORT SLIPS SIGNED.

There are a few students still working on their mice pencil sharpers from last week.  I told those students that they would have to catch up on this assignment at a later time (when they finish everything else assigned this week).  I then told the students I would be separating them by grade because they would be working on separate units.

The grade 11’s (TEJ3M) were put into pairs and were given a lego mindstorm kit.  Their first task was to organize their kits based on a photocopied sheet I provided for them.  Once they had their kits organized, I asked the students to read the pdf instructions for building their first robot.  This pdf was titled “Express Bot Driving Base – Step By Step”.  Once the students were finished building this robot, they were to read over the pdf titled “Lego NXT robots using NXC tutorial – Part 1″.  I asked the students to write the code for “The First Program” using the program called “Bricx Command Centre”.  Once the students were able to do the first program I then asked them to write code to have their robot move forward for 4 seconds, stop, turn left, stop and then go forward for another 4 seconds.

The grade 12’s (TEJ4M) were to work on the networking assignment I gave them titled “TEJ4M – Router Emulation Assignment”.  I first went over the assignment with the students and then showed the students an example that one of my students did in the past so they could use this as an exemplar.  This assignment is due tomorrow by the end of the period.

Below you will find a copies of the handouts/worksheets that were distributed/assigned in today’s class.
