TEJ3M/TEJ4M – March 31, 2016

PLEASE NOTE:  THERE IS A REVISED SCHOOL DAY SCHEDULE TODAY FOR THE GRADE 10 LITERACY TEST.  I HAVE POSTED A COPY OF THE SCHEDULE BELOW.

Revised School Day Schedule for Grade 10 Literacy Test (Mar 31)

The grade 11’s (TEJ3M) will continue to work on their lego minstorm robots.  The students are to write the code for “The First Track” using the program called “Bricx Command Centre”.  I made a track for the students using tape and told the students that I would like them code for this track.  The students are to go around this track 2 times using the code they have learned from the pdf “Tutorial Part 1”.  Once the students have finished coding this track I will take a video of a successful run of the track.  Once the students have finished track one, they are to take their robot apart (or modify their first bot) and build the “explorer bot” using the step by step instructions posted below.  Once the students are finished this, then they are to come see me for the next task.

The grade 12’s (TEJ4M) will be working on the next activity which will be doing research on how to build a fish tank computer using mineral oil.  I want the grade 12’s to look up some websites today and watch videos to find some research on how to start the project.  I have had 2 students in the grade 12 class offering to bring in fish tanks so I will be able to separate the students into 2 groups so we can make 2 fish tank computers.  The students are to open up a Microsoft Word Document today and are to list any resources they found and make point form notes on specifics about building a fish tank computer (E.g. how big is the fish tank, where to specific parts need to be placed, type of cooling needed…etc.).  I will ask the students to submit this research later on in the project.

Below you will find a copies of the handouts/worksheets that were distributed/assigned in today’s class.

Grade 11 (TEJ3M):
