I began the class today by telling the students that I would be continuing with the lesson we had started on Mon Apr 18 on adding & subtracting vectors. We had a shortened class because of a prayer service in the gym, so we did not get through the entire lesson. I had given the students a handout titled “MCV4U – Adding & Subtracting Vectors” (see the Mon Apr 18 blog posting for more details).

After finishing off the previous lesson, I mentioned to the students that we would be doing a new lesson on multiplying a scalar by a vector. I then gave the students a handout titled “MCV4U – Multiplying a Vector by a Scalar”. I told the students that there were some things from the handout I would just be going over and that they would not have to fill anything in (I suggested they highlight important concepts). For the examples that required students to fill things in, I put it up on the digital projector and then I went over the examples using the projector and the black board. Once we finished the lesson, I then told the students to work on the homework I assigned for today (**1.) ****Read pages 313 to 324 and then do pages 325 & 326 #1 to 7 – I am re-assigning this homework which I gave the students on Apr 18; 2.) Do the following from the worksheet titled “More Vector Addition & Subtraction Questions”: #2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13 & 15 – I am re-assigning this homework which I gave the students on Apr 20; 3.) Read pages 329 to 333 and then do #1 to 6 – This is new homework from today’s lesson**). Students are encouraged to email me if they have any questions from the homework ahead of time (abawa@office.ldcsb.on.ca).
