NOTE: THERE IS A REVISED SCHEDULE TOMORROW JUNE 7 FOR THE GRAD MASS. I HAVE POSTED A COPY OF THE REVISED SCHOOL DAY SCHEDULE BELOW.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: THE GRADE 11’s FINAL EVALUATION WILL BE RELATED TO THE ELECTRONICS UNIT SPECIFICALLY WORKING WITH THE ARDUINO BOARDS. THIS IS WORTH 30% OF THEIR ENTIRE GRADE (70% IS THEIR TERM MARK) AND IS DUE ON OR BEFORE JUNE 22, 2016. THE STUDENTS ARE TO FIRST CONSULT MYSELF ABOUT THEIR PROJECT AND ARE TO KEEP PROPER DOCUMENTATION OF THE PROCESS. THE DOCUMENT FOR THE FINAL PROJECT CAN BE FOUND BELOW.
I told the grade 11’s (TEJ3M) that I wanted them to work on the 7 segment LED countdown activity using their arduino boards today. The links to the resources needed to complete this activity can be found below. Once the students are finished the 7 segment LED countdown, then they are to work on the arduino assignment titled “Nursery Rhyme – Baa Baa Black Sheep Assignment”. A copy of the this assignment can be found below. Also, I will post a youtube video below as an example of what the students should be doing for the “Nursery Rhyme – Baa Baa Black Sheep Assignment”. This will be the last tutorial/assignment for the unit. Once the students are finished both of the above assignments, to start thinking about what they want to do for their final project which will be in the electronics (arduino) unit (worth 30% of their final grade). Once they have decided what they want to do, they are to come talk to me so I can let them know if they can continue or if they should choose another idea.
I told the grade 12’s (TEJ4M) to start thinking about what they want to do for their final project which will be in the electronics (arduino) unit (worth 30% of their final grade). I showed the students on the digital projector the outline for the final project. Students are to first choose an idea and then start researching what they want to do. Once they have decided what they want to do, they are to come talk to me so I can let them know if they can continue or if they should choose another idea. I also gave each of the students their own arduino board to keep with them for the remainder of the course.
Below you will find a copies of the handouts/worksheets that were distributed/assigned in today’s class.
Grade 11 (TEJ3M):
7 Segment LED Configuration (The students can go to this link to help them connect their 7 segment LED to their breadboard. I will take a picture once they have completed this.)
Arduino & 7 segment Display Countdown (Step by step instructions for doing a countdown using an arduino & a 7 segment LED display.)
Nursery Rhyme – Baa Baa Black Sheep Assignment (The students are to work on this once they have completed all of the arduino tutorials and the 7 segment LED display countdown.)

Grade 11 (TEJ3M) & Grade 12 (TEJ4M):
TEJ3M TEJ4M Final Project (arduino) (This is for both the grade 11’s and 12’s to go over. This is the final project in the course worth 30% of the students’ mark.)
Sample Required Parts List (Here is a sample parts list that a few of my students did for me in the past. I explained to the students the purpose of the parts list is that if there is anything we do not have in the class and they have already checked and there are additional things that they need, then they can give me a required parts list so that I can try to get the things they need for their final project.)
Sample Summative Report (This is a sample report that a few of my students did in the past. I told the students 2 things need to be submitted for their final project. A summative report and their code. I will also be taking a video of their working final project.)
